Happy Birthday, Jake!!!

Has it really been a year?

It is bittersweet to see my little boy grow up.  Just this last Thursday he started walking back and forth across the room and now just a week later he rarely crawls.

I have a toddler.

Besides Jake reaching a milestone in turning 1 today, Jake and I shared a milestone today as well.  I am proud (and a little in awe) that we have nursed this entire year. =)  That is 3 months longer than the 9 month goal I set - 2 months longer than I nursed Sarah and safely past cold and flu season.  9 months came and went and it seemed like the right thing to keep going.  Jake went that long without formula, why give him it at all?

So, lots to celebrate!!!

Earlier this month we had my fav family photographer, Beth with Tip Toe Photography,  meet us at Kiddie Park to take some carnival inspired birthday pictures of Jake.  After that we came back to the house and did smash cake pics. =)  The colors came out beautiful and vivid - just like I hoped and imagined.  That's why I love Beth!  She works with color so well without overdoing it to the point of looking fake.  So here they are!

Hey!  A good picture of me and Mark!

That face just melts my heart

You should have seen him smack that cake - frosting was flying EVERYWHERE!  He wasn't interested in eating the cake though.
We had a "little" carnival this last weekend for Jake's birthday party.  I definitely bit off more than I could chew with this one, but the kids had a blast!  We had frozen lemonade, cotton candy, a popcorn machine, a "photo booth", a mini moonbounce, a mini carousel and the jewel of the party - a train!  The older kids enjoyed taking turns holding Jake and taking him on the train.  He rode as much as all the other kids!

So I was REALLY tired and stretched thin.  I'm an engineer, but not THAT bad of a speller - i swear!  Even with a misspelled banner, Jake's smile was too cute not to include.  Hanging out with his godmother/Aunt Katie in the photo booth.

Miss Elise shows us how to rock a mustache

We also had a dry erase speech bubble and thought bubble.  Sarah looked cute in her mustache too!

Sarah, Elise and Audrey hanging out like they always have felt stuck to their face.

Samantha and Sarah just clowning around in the photo booth.

Sarah had a blast

Aunt Katie and Sarah looking rather stylish.

Even Jake joined the photo prop fun!

Danielle shows that even the speech bubble was sweating.  It was a little hot!

Sarah chowing down on rock candy and taking a spin on the carousel with friends Audrey and Lauren.

What a clown!

A bit of socializing

More train action.  I blocked off the parking lot to the pavilion so the train had lots of room and there wouldn't be kids running around near cars.  The person policing the adjacent community pool gave us grief for it, but it was only for a couple of hours. =)

Choo Choo!!!

I didn't take nearly as many pictures as I would have liked (what's new), so there were quite a few people at the party I don't have pictures of!
