Test Cake II

Only five more days until Sarah's party! I made the second test "smash" cake today and it turned out even better than the first one! Beth with Tip Toe Photography came over this morning to take Sarah's first birthday pics, and I made this cake for a mock cake smashing during the session.

A few things I might change for her cake on Sunday...

I may go with white frosting. The neon purple turned out REALLY cute, but I had a heck of a time getting the color out of Sarah's clothes after we were done with the photos (I was able to get it out, but only after soaking in stain remover, then bleach water)

I need to figure out a way to use a lighter touch with the frosting. There was so much frosting, Sarah had a hard time getting to the cake! I had to take off a chunk so she could get to the center.

Otherwise, it turned out great! This one is a strawberry cake. YUM! Oh... and for those of you out there that love baking, I HIGHLY recommend this website: Bake it Pretty. Their baking supplies are sooooo cute!!!

  2. Hi Shelly! I am glad you like the blog. The candle is part of a set of 4 in Wilton's "Chunky Star" candles pack. I actually found it in the cake section of my local HEB grocery store, but I have also seen it at my Super Wal-Mart.
