Sarah slept through the night last night! Well, if you go by the standard pediatrician definition of sleeping through the night - which is 5 hours. LOL!
Sarah has been a pretty good sleeper for a newborn. Even the very first week home she would sleep about 4 hours for her first long stretch, eat, then sleep another 3-4 hours. This has basically been the norm. I have been lucky to be getting some decent sleep!
Yesterday Sarah turned 4 weeks old. Time to introduce a bottle! Breastfeeding has been going really well (hence the 3 lbs in 4 weeks) and nipple confusion should not be an issue at this point. I have been pumping for a week or so and have started a freezer stash. We decided to have Mark give her one bottle of breast milk before she goes down for the night to get her used to it before I go back to work and she heads to daycare. For awhile at least, I plan on pumping at work and sending bottles of breast milk to daycare.
Last night we tried giving Sarah a bottle as planned. Both mark and Sarah were getting frustrated, so I stepped in and worked on getting Sarah to suck while Mark was still holding her. It took about 20 minutes or so, but she finally figured it out. Once she started, Mark took back the bottle. We went back and forth for awhile, but by the end they didn't need any help from me. After that, Sarah slept 5 hours! I don't know if it was coincidence since I have been waking her up after 4 hours the 2 night previously. This time, I let her sleep. After waking up to eat, she then slept another 4 hours!!!
When Mark started giving her a bottle tonight, there was no problem with her taking it. Mark is so in love with his little girl, and he has been waiting so long to get to feed her.
